Kommetjie Cottage

A gorgeous Kommetjie Home right near the sea in the old original part of the cove. The history of the early days when surfers would come down to stay in little wooden and tin shacks hidden under milk wood trees on a wild coastline to enjoy the infamous surf breaks. This newly renovated home enjoyed a mini deco upgrade. The clients didn't want anything overtly modern and wanted to keep the charm of their beach cottage but give it a new lease of life. Kitchen cabinets were repainted in a pale Taupe/Grey, windows were fitted with Sheer roller blinds to protect the furniture and wooden floors from the bright sunlight.Textured sheer Curtains installed in the bedrooms. Existing furniture recovered or repainted. A few new pieces are added but in keeping with the comfy, unpretentious feel of the home. A wonderful project in a quant seaside cove of Kommetjie, Cape Town.

After Transformation

Existing couches and chairs well worn were re upholstered in Charcoals and dusty blues, Scatters were made up in Hertex Leaf prints and a Stripe for the lounge.  An old yellow Oregon dining table was grey washed. The Kitchen cabinetry was painted .Vintage ball and Claw chairs repainted with a fresh coat of white and the seats recovered in a beautiful Lime fabric for a bedroom. New padded headboards were made for the bedrooms with antique brass studs as the detail, and beds finished with co ordinating scatter cushions. The end result a peaceful comfortable family home by the Sea to be enjoyed by everyone .
